Real time fuel mileage indicator for motorbikes

It is always good for every company to grab the thoughts of common people for the commercial success of their vehicles. Unless until they reach the people with their vehicles satisfying customer demands, its marketing may not satisfactory. The development of science in the recent years also influencing the people to know the accurate mileage information than the approximate range of the same. Leading to the development of digital speedometers providing exact speed with some negligible delay. But the representation of the level of fuel is still in bars exposing ambiguity to the users, as shown in Figure1.

The requirement can be achieved by using the sensor that matches the criteria. Sensor is a device that will detect a physical thing to respond for some type of inputs. There are so many sensors available in the market is shown in Figure 2. But it is better to use Electro Magnetic Sensors (EMS). These EMS are used to find physical quantities like pressure, force etc., and they convert them into electronic signals. Generally in vehicles, the fuel gauge vehicle consists of two parts: 1. The sensing unit 2 .The indicator
A fuel gauge is an instrument used to indicate the level of fuel contained in a tank. Which are used in two wheeler vehicle and four wheeler vehicles,on the other hand, these may also be used for any tank including underground storage tanks


The Proximity sensors are sensors they will detect the presence of nearby objects without any physical contact. The proximity sensor fixed in the wheel, when the wheel is rotating the proximity sensor gives the pulse to the micro controller. Inside the counter will count that pulse from this we can easily calculate the revolutions per minute (RPM), the proximity sensor in the wheel is shown in Figure 2



The float sensor gives the information about fuel level in the tank. The fuel storage in the tank is monitoring by float sensor which is fixed in the tank . We place this float sensor as shown in Figure 2.

-E is used as a standard fuel level sensor or as an additional sensor to be used with AVL, FMS, tank monitoring systems or vehicle tracking systems. DUT-Eas a part of telematics system is used:
To obtain the reliable information about current fuel volume in vehicle tank
To define the volume of the fuel vehicle in the tank
To detect the fuel theft from the tank
To carry out the remote tank monitoring
To determine the fuel consumption.


The LCD is used to display the all processing data. Here we used two lines LCD, for displaying the amount of fuel, mileage and speed as shown in Figure 2 and LCD interface with microcontroller as shown in figure 2.
